Travel Seasons for This Itinerary:
March-April:
Spring is a beautiful time to visit Southern China, with mild temperatures and fresh greenery emerging across Guilin’s karst landscapes, Zhangjiajie’s peaks, and Chengdu’s panda reserves. In early March, higher elevations in Zhangjiajie may still see a light dusting of snow, adding a dramatic contrast to the misty mountain scenery. Fewer crowds and blooming landscapes make this a comfortable and photogenic time to travel.
May-June:
Late spring brings warmer weather and lush, vibrant landscapes, especially in Guilin and Zhangjiajie. While this is one of the busiest times to travel to China, it’s also one of the most scenic, with waterfalls flowing and mist rolling across the mountains.
September-October:
Early autumn offers some of the most pleasant travel conditions, with mild temperatures, lower humidity, and clear skies. This is a popular time to visit Zhangjiajie’s dramatic sandstone pillars, the natural beauty of Guilin, and Chengdu’s laid-back charm. A peak season surcharge may apply due to high demand and limited flight availability.
November:
Late autumn brings cooler weather and thinning crowds. It’s a great time for travellers who prefer a more peaceful experience, especially in Chengdu and Guilin. Some areas in Zhangjiajie may start to feel chilly, and while snow is rare in November, higher elevations could see the occasional dusting. The scenery remains stunning with hints of autumn colour.
